DeSylvaWitt
Nick DeSylva Biography: My life’s passion is music, performing, writing and producing. It's how I'm wired, my DNA, my life's adrenaline. I'm never happier than when I'm groovin’ out on stage getting high on the buzz of a live audience having a great time! I have worked as a performance musician and composer for film, theatre and television for the last...mmm...years and feel privileged to have shared both stage & studio with some truly amazing musicians including the CBSO, Jake Thackray, Cosmotheka, The New Rope String Band...and I even once pimped the PA for Tony Blair!
I am currently working on ’Fleetwood Machine’, a theatre show celebrating the incredible catalogue of Fleetwood Mac & Peter Green. I feel so fortunate that this was recorded at Rockfield Studios and produced by my good friend Matt Butler whose credits include Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Mick Jagger, and Sir George Martin.
How lucky am I to work on original songs with the amazing Samara! Let Me Be Free was inspired by the growing issue of forced marriage in the LGBT community. We sincerely hope to raise awareness for this issue by working with the Naz & Matt Foundation…for more info please click here.

My current film composition project is The Escape, written and directed by another very special friend, Tony Chance, whose movie credits include Spectre, 101 Dalmations, Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy and American Beauty.
STUDIO: I run Pro Tools 12 & Logic Pro X in my studio with the latest version of Melodyne Studio which is a real game changer. I have an extensive sample library including Spitfire Symphonic & Solo Strings, Ivory, Omnisphere & MOTU Mach 5. For visuals I run Adobe Ceative Cloud including Premiere, After Effects & Photoshop. (Samples of work on the 'DeSylva Media' page)
As part of my former role as Lecturer in Music Production, I have been incredibly fortunate to have hosted and interviewed a diverse array of music industry guests, notably Oscar- winning sound designer Norman Wanstall (Goldfinger), Steve Harley (Come Up and See Me), John Otway (Really Free), David Lowe (composer BBC News, Countryfile, Grand Designs), Paul Farrer (composer Weakest Link) & Gordon Giltrap (Heartsong).
A splendid time was had by all with the ‘fab that went before’, namely Tom the Frop & their magnificent Magical History Tour ...forever in my thoughts & forever thankful for the sides- splitting times we had together, far too numerous to mention, happy times boys, happy times!
...and in other news...conservation has always played a big part in my life and I was lucky enough to work in Uganda for a year as Programme Co-ordinator of the Kibale Forest Eco- tourism project. My brief was to develop an eco-tourism facility allowing visitors to observe the chimpanzees and other native primates. Kibale was subsequently gazetted a National Park, what an honour to have played a small part in this wonderful success story!
I now continue my interest by contributing to coral reef conservation in both Mauritius and Figi...plus, of course, regular rants on social media! In 2009 I made a promotional film for Reef Conservation Mauritius, had a fun time and worked with great bunch of people...long may it continue! Hope to see you at a gig very soon!
